The Lily and The Rose is a piano solo arrangement of the 1901 hit pop song by Carrie Jacobs-Bond, which was originally a ballad for voice and piano. This arrangement is mostly inspired by the original 12 bar tune. I started with the original melody, then changed several of the notes; then doubled the note values before making further rhythmic changes. Then I set it to a chromatically descending bass line. Once I had completed that romantically inspired section, I changed the Time Signature and created a New Age section using a few of the melodic notes. It becomes a unique and expressive piano solo.
