Bridge is written using the 4+ on the middle string in a few measures, but can be omitted as described in the notes on the last page of the arrangement. The tablature allows space for the player to develop their own strum patterns over the rests at the end of the verse.

Billy Joel's blue collar folk-rock/pop rock anthem, Allentown, was the lead track from the 1982 album the Nylon Curtain. It spent six weeks on Billboard's Hot 100 and was certified gold. The intro and strumming patterns used throughout the song were written to mimic the sound of steel plant manufacturing that is mentioned in the lyrics.
