Product Description

Brass quintet. I have shamelessly combined ideas from three famous pieces popular for funerals: Pachelbel's Canon, Elgar's Nimrod from the Enigma Variations and Chopin's Marche Funebre from his 2nd Pianoforte Sonata. So it is a passacaglia, having a solemn repeating 4 bars in the bass; 8 variations on a 4 bar phrase; and an accompanied canon having each variation repeated twice, in the lower parts after delays, while a new variation appears in the 1st TRUMPET. All in A minor, but a tierce de Picardie ends the piece. Only 3 minutes: after all that work!
