This hauntingly beautiful and lilting habanera tribute to his native land by 19th century Afro-Cuban composer and violinist José White was originally written for two solo violins is arranged to showcase alternating solo pairs of trumpets, solo pairs of horns and solo pairs of trombones accompanied by euphoniums and tuba. The ABA form features a contrasting jaunty, cakewalk-style middle section. The arrangement for ten brass is scored for two trumpets or flugelhorns in B-flat with alternate C trumpet parts, two horns in F, three trombones, two euphoniums, and tuba. The recording of the entire edition.
