Product Description

A short and effective piece for SABar choir (no further divisi needed). This piece has been popular with younger choirs, and has been sung several times by the National Youth Choir of Scotland's training choir. It would be suitable for any choir who are a bit short on lower voices but still want some new and interesting music. It is simple enough to be learned by ear if needed, though reading will be preferable. The text, an old Scottish prayer, is suitable for almost any sacred occasion and will also work well in concert. This is part of a set of three pieces with words from Carmina Gadelica, a book of ancient Scottish prayers, along with "Come I This Day To The Father" and "The Peace Of God", also available through SheetMusicPlus/SheetMusicDirect. A recording of all three (in a lower ATB voicing) can be found at https://soundcloud.com/hutchingsmusic/sets/carmina-gadelica .

Ranges: soprano B3-E5, alto G3-G4, baritone A2-E4.

"God to enfold me,
God to surround me,
God in my speaking,
God in my thinking.

God in my sleeping,
God in my waking,
God in my watching,
God in my hoping.

God in my life,
God in my lips,
God in my soul,
God in my heart.

God in my sufficing,
God in my slumber,
God in mine ever-living soul,
God in mine eternity."
