Born in 2008, Jonathan Platz is a young self-taught composer who has won awards at the Gold Coast QMTA Composers Competition, ASME Queensland Young Composers' Competition, and the Innisfail Young Performers Competition. Waltz No. 1 in A Major won second prize at the 2019 ASME Young Composers Competition. It has the stylistic traits of a Viennese Waltz with a shift to the relative minor key before moving back to the tonic key. This composition is suitable for the intermediate to advanced student.
