Product Description
Piano variations on themes from the opera "Rodelinda" by G. F. Handel in the following styles. Pieces marked with an asterisk are contained in the attached MP3 audio file to give you an idea of the difficulty level:
Introduction to "Pompe vane di morte" -- transcription*, swing*, jazz, impressionist
Introduction to "Con rauco mormorio" -- transcription*, tango*, gospel rock, etude
Introduction to "Se fiera belva ha cinto" -- transcription*, ragtime, impromptu*, Asturias
Introduction to "Confusa si miri" -- transcription, modern jazz (5/4), harp etude, hemiola
Somewhat straight transcriptions are included to encourage the player to develop their own variations on these wonderful themes.
All pieces are in the modern equivalent of Baroque pitch; in other words, a piece originally written in (Baroque) E-flat is written here in D in order to sound at the same pitch on a modern piano.
