Product Description

The core ideas behind this composition were the exploration of resonance and the concept of consonance/dissonance (hence the title). Another important aspect of the piece is the spatial dimension: by separating the two groups of instruments from one another (Piano I, Percussion I & Piano II, Percussion II), various antiphonal effects become possible. These effects are then integrated with the uses of resonance, consonance and dissonance. The pitch material throughout the piece is built upon constantly changing tetrachords based on combinations of semitones and whole tones.
