Product Description
El toque (the playing of the guitar) and El baile (the dancer) are two modern interpretations of the Flamenco seguirilla dance form. (The word segurilla has many different spellings.)
The seguirilla is one of the most important dance forms of Flamenco. It is dark in spirit and performed full of emotion, usually with guitar accompanying the dancer leading the work.
The foundation of the Flamenco seguirilla rhythm is its 12 beat compás. This 2+2+3+3+2 beat pattern is universally understood within the Flamenco tradition, enabling the use of unique and interesting "syncopations", if you will, that play against this pattern.
The linked recording is by Christina Cuda Robertson.
