Product Description

The Transylvanian Suite consists of five movements (with a total duration of 15 minutes) inspired by surprisingly beauty East European and Balkan folk tunes. This work combines traditional melodies with modal harmonies performed with Baroque and modern instruments. The first part (Flori dalbe) develops Christmas Carols in unique asymmetric rhythms. The second part (Zdroboleanca) is a drawling dance originating in the Western Carpathians area. The third part (Paparuga) aims to be a ritual song that attempts to invoke rain. The last two parts (Ardeleana mare and Natanga) are Transylvanian dances known for their playful virtuosity.
