Product Description

Hatikvah is the Hebrew word for hope, The melody for "Hatikvah" derives from "La Mantovana", a 16th-century Italian song, composed by Giuseppe Cenci (Giuseppino del Biado) ca. 1600 The words come from a 19th-century Jewish poem and the national anthem of Israel. The text of Hatikvah was written in 1878 by Naftali Herz Imber, a Jewish poet from Poland.
In the 1980s this was arranged for classical guitar for the first time by Eric Charles Mokotoff and was donated to the Yivo Institute for Jewish research, it has been revised in 2020 by Eric Charles Mokotoff for classical guitar.
