This song was written for a church camp based on John Ortberg's book "If You Want to Walk on Water You've Got To Get Out Of The Boat". The song tells the story of Peter's encounter with Jesus, and draws comfort both from Peter's experience of Jesus rescuing him, and from the promises of Isaiah 43:2 - "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze."

The song is comfortably pitched for congregational singing and church bands. It was originally written in Eb, which guitarists struggle with, hence the shift to D. It can be played with a capo on whichever fret is most convenient for the lead singers.
