Patterned after a canon (which repeats the same chord structure), and based a plaintive melody, the solo instrument and piano then echo and overlap each other with the main melody, variations on that melody and countermelodies throughout. The piece weaves through a series of repeated phrases -- much like memories mix with dreams as you snuggle underneath a warm, homemade blanket. And finally at the end, you'll hear chimes of a hallway clock as one more reprise of the melody sends the listener off to sleep.
