Product Description

This authentic version of this emblematic Tchaikovsky composition was written for woodwind quintet where it can be flexibly performed in Christmas or wedding ceremonies. It can be performed by students who already have a good instrumental practice or professional teachers. This does not prevent it from being performed in concerts or academic or graduation recitals.

The "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" is a dance for a ballerina. Tchaikovsky introduced the celesta to Russian music lovers on 19 March 1892 when the Nutcracker Suite was performed for the Russian Musical Society in St. Petersburg. It is heard in other parts of Act 2 of The Nutcracker besides the Sugar Plum Fairy's dance. The "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" is one of the ballet's best known musical numbers. The complete Nutcracker has enjoyed enormous popularity since the late 1960s and is now performed by countless ballet companies, primarily during the Christmas season, especially in North America. Major American ballet companies generate around 40% of their annual ticket revenues from performances of The Nutcracker.
