intermediate-level woodwind arrangement of this favourite Scottish melody,
featuring Horn in E-flat or F. The tune
may be familiar to some as the theme from Outlander.
The piece is

This
arrangement was originally created for a small wind course at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig on the Isle of Skye, with 1 2 players per
part and featuring E-flat horn.
There are some alternative options for
the feature part the version in E-flat could instead by played by Alto
Saxophone, while there is also a version in F which could be played by French
Horn or Cor Anglais.
Also included are optional easier
add-on parts for Flute/Oboe, Clarinet in B-flat/Soprano Saxophone, Low
Clarinet in B-flat, Tenor Saxophone, Mini-bassoon (in F or G) and Bassoon
ideal if your group contains a few less-adept players. These should be used sparingly, however!
The cover photo shows the ferry from
Mallaig to Armadale, which brought some of the students Over the Sea to Skye
for the first performance of this particular arrangement of the Skye Boat Song.
