Product Description

This highly expressive expressionistic solo sonata for piano was the composer's Ph.D. thesis at Harvard University. The MP3 Audio Clip is of his senior recital at Harvard Music Department in May of 1974. The work is based on a 24-tone vertical "row" that permeates the harmonies and melodies throughout, hence it is "atonal" or "twelve-tone". The music is in three movements, a slow dirge-like opening, a brilliant fast interlude, and a pensive finale ending quietly. The MP3 Audio Clip is of the composer's 1974 solo performance at Harvard. The total duration is about 21 minutes. It is recommended that this PDF be printed on large 11 x 17" pages in landscape orientation for best readability. The score is in the composer's own hand.
