Product Description

Also sprach Zarathustra (1896) (Thus Spoke Zarathustra) is a tone poem by Richard Strauss (1864-1949). This piece pays homage to the philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. A tone poem is a piece of orchestral music, usually in a single continuous movement, which illustrates or evokes the content of a poem, short story, novel, painting, landscape, or other non-musical source. This tone poem exhibits the entitlements of man and nature by the use of contrasting and opposing tonalities (C Major and B Major). Although, the first movement is Strauss most famous selection, this arrangement is from the lesser known second movement translated: "Of Those at the Back of the World." This lullaby type song conjures a slow emotional music that rises and fall. Perhaps it could be a type of love story. The arranger is Brian Leverett. He has a Bachelors and Masters degrees in Music Education from Wayne State University and has now retired from teaching band in the Detroit Public Schools. He also have been an avid handbell choir member for twenty years.
