I remember a phone conversation with my mother, who asked why I didn't write country music. It didn't help to tell her that, as I am not a fan of country, I wouldn't know how to go about doing that. When the words, "I never wrote a country song before" popped into my head I had to purge them, somehow. I went to the piano and worked out a yodel-type tune to fit those words, and a parody of country music was born.
