Product Description
George Frideric Handel
was a German, later British composer, regarded as one of the greatest composers
of the Baroque era. He composed Messiah, an English oratorio, in 1741.
The text derives from the King James Bible as it depicts the birth, life,
death, and resurrection of Christ. Messiah has become one of the most
well-known and frequently performed choral works of all time. Perhaps the most
recognizable movement is the Hallelujah Chorus, the finale of Part II of
the oratorio.
The original
instrumentation of the Hallelujah Chorus was for four-part chorus,
trumpets, timpani, and strings. Mozart, among other composers, has since
expanded the orchestration for a larger-scale production. This arrangement for
clarinet choir has been adapted from Handels original. The chorus is primarily
featured in Clarinets 3, 4, 5, and Alto, while the other five parts are adapted
from the orchestral parts.
