Patapan is a hauntingly beautiful French carol written by Bernard de La Monnoye and first published 1720. The following arrangement is for three violins and piano and allows the performers to play in a number of combinations:

Solo (violin I) with piano,
Duo (violin I and II) with piano
Trio (violin I, II, and III) with piano
Unaccompanied duet
Unaccompanied trio

Included are the piano and trio scores as well as an optional viola part to replace violin III
