Product Description
I'm a flutist AND a pianist. Not long ago, a friend was asked to sing a Christmas musical number at church. She wanted to do Silent Night and couldn't find a basic solo for it that was pretty. I cobbled together an accompaniment and we made it work. It happened that I'd been creating a Flute Performance Obligato with Silent Night for one of my students. After that Christmas Season, I started working on a flute solo of Silent Night and created one that I would enjoy playing, and then created a simpler flute part that one of my students could do. It's not a duet, just the same accompaniment with two different levels of skill for the soloist. I remembered my vocalist friend and wondered if I could adjust the accompaniment to work for a singer. This is the result. The vocal part is the simple, tender melody we love.
The vocal accompaniment is less complicated than my flute solo, but uses many of the same ideas. Please listen to the recording.
This starts in the key of B-flat and changes to the Key of C. Range for the vocalist is b-flat below middle c to 5th line treble F. The vocal part is just melody and could be sung in any language. The piano part is flowing and reverently happy.
