Count Your Blessings is a cheerful hymn and I've created multiple oblilgatos for it. This arrangement is especially good for the new flutist since two of the verses are mostly in the middle register and you don't have to change notes as rapidly. Of course, there are some verses that more experienced player would like too! I find myself humming the notes and articulation of the classical time period verse and it cheers me up.

Accompaniment is straight out of the hymnbook but that does not imply an endorsement from the Church. Set in the Key of D it would work well for violinists and several of the verses would work for an oboist.

My students love this kind of arrangement. They get to play music with someone else, with a melody they already know and like. A bit of happy success is a good thing in a student's life.
