Relatively speaking, these melodies travel between a collection of pitches extending from "lower Sol" to "upper Sol" (Ex: Amazing Grace, Happy Birthday, the familiar theme from Brahms Symphony No. 1, 4th movement). Learning to hear and navigate these basic Sol-to-Sol tonal relationships is a vital step for students learning to sight-sing using the solfege system. Here is a warm-up exercise of a Sol-to-Sol melody traversing keys having one to three sharps or flats. There are several typical Re-Ti-Do cadential gestures and a few simple skips. This exercise reviews basic patterns to build fluency in beginners. Sing using solfege hand symbols.
