Product Description

This is one song of a projected cycle for tenor and piano, comprising musical settings of several quotations from Joseph Smith, Jr. The intent is to illustrate the coexistence of natural human tendencies, frailties, and quirks alongside the spiritual sensitivity, wisdom, and nobler aspirations of one who feels called to offer unique service to God and humankind. Textual humor is highlighted by corresponding word-painting (in this case a pianistic parody of the bray of a donkey). Major tonality but mostly non-common-practice harmony. Fairly advanced difficulty for vocalist and pianist alike. Duration ca. 0:50.
