Product Description

Originally for flute, violin, and piano, Doppler's lively and virtuosic Duettino americain is now available for two solo flutes and woodwind quintet! Composed in 1880, Duettino americain is a theme and variations on three iconic American tunes - Hail Columbia, The Star Spangled Banner, and Yankee Doodle. At the time, both Hail Columbia and The Star Spangled Banner were unofficial national anthems of the United States. As a result, The Star Spangled Banner is in a different meter than the modern official version, and Doppler's interpretation is much more melodic than the current militaristic performance practice.
