Product Description

This Old John's arrangement seems simple but is written fully polyphonically. So, by playing at forte while others play softly, each voice takes a turn playing lead. Swallowtail is written as theme and variations. Again, each voice leads a passage. The tune builds to a climax as the next to last section is again fully polyphonic, yielding an arrangement that satisfies both players and audience. Two sheets per instrument (no page turns) yet stretching to fill 6 minutes makes it great for gigs. This tune can be played as a woodwind quartet or mixed winds and strings.
