It is finished! It is done! Jesus died alone.
From his scourging, bitter cup, drops of love were shown.
Through the stinging, mocking hours on that barren tree,
Mercy fell like tears of joy, though no eye could see.
Vinegar and bitter gall passed his thirsty tongue.
Then in revrence and relief, though his body hung,
He addressed his Father there: "I commend my soul.
Now my spirit comes to Thee; in thy hands Im whole."
It is finished! It is done! Jesus saved mankind.
Through the Victor selflessly, anguish stepped behind. (aside)
Death and sorrow, pain and guilt never would survive.
Now true joy and precious peace could remain alive.
Finishing this mortal deed was the Saviors will,
For, in love, He saved the world-Gods plan to fulfill.
It was finished! Triumph reigned! Death was now complete.
Victory had won the cross through Christs wondrous feat.
