Hydrus is the male water snake, another constellation in the southern hemisphere named to match an existing ancient partner in the northern hemisphere. Hydrus is smaller than his counterpart Hydra, the largest constellation in the night sky. This constellation has been reconfigured more times than any other. Thus it seemed appropriate to use one of Messiaens scales of limited transposition, the sixth mode. The chord sequence is a palindrome, which is then reversed and flipped up to the right hand.
