As the name suggests, these were the first preludes that I composedthe first ones I considered worthy of publishing at least.
Each piece in this set has a distinct story behind it, as well as a melodic idea. The first, Regret, is so named because I played it for my last student recital, in 2020. I rushed the original version of the piece into production to get it ready in time, and, since I was still quite a new composer at the time, it wasnt my best work. The prelude in F minor Fury is a little simpler. It goes from
explosive to simmering to explosive again in just two minutes, with the chromatic octaves and the quieter chords. The last is in C-sharp minor, and it is based on a dream that I had.
