"How Great Thou Art" is a Christian hymn based on the traditional Swedish melody for the hymn "O Store Gud" (Oh, great God), written by Swedish poet Carl Boberg in 1885. While Boberg wrote the original Swedish poem, the popular English version of the hymn was adapted and translated by British missionary Stuart K. Hine in the mid-20th century.
