Product Description

This chart is a big band arrangement of Billie Holiday's first copyrighted composition - apparently completed just before her recording session in 1936 with Art (Artie) Shaw. It was released under Billies name as I Love My Man. Shaw takes a (very long) solo on that recording which is quite up-tempo. I enjoy the slower tempos of later recordings and suggest crotchet (quarter) = 74-82.

The piece is in concert Ab. Lead trumpet goes up to concert B6 and first trombone to Ab4. There are solo opportunities for Trombone 1, Trumpet 2 and Guitar. There are a few intricate rhythmic figures which are easily mastered.

Standard instrumentation: 5 saxes, 4 trumpets, 3 trombones and bass trombone, piano, bass, drums and guitar. A Full Score is included. Duration is about 5 40.

I hope you enoy!
