Product Description

Although this piece is, on the surface light and scherzo-like, there are sinister undertones.
It opens with a statement of six notes for the tuba and piano in unison. This opening motif is subjected to a series of slow and fast alternating variations. Its mood is sombre and mysterious.

Commissioned by the Brass Band Association of New Zealand for use as a test piece at the National Brass Band Championships in Wellington, April 2017
