The extensive introduction uses material unrelated to the hymntune freeing a congregation to view the opening procession of ministers. A 4-measure hymn introduction follows, leading to unison Verse 1. Verse 2 choir a capella follows a short brass interlude. Verse 3 pairs a tenor/bass and soprano/alto dialogue culminating in full choir. A formal brass interlude modulates up a half-step to the final verse. Verse 4 includes a soprano descant which could be rendered by an instrument.
