Product Description

Die Entführung aus dem Serail (The Abduction from the Seraglio) was commissioned by Emperor Joseph II, who wanted to establish a national German "Singspiel" as a counterpart to the Italian influenced court opera. It was a huge success from the start and established Mozart in Vienna. The premiere took place on 16 July 1782 at the Burgtheater in Vienna directed by the composer. The arrangement of the overture is kept in the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra and was commissioned and first time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at the Great Hall of the Mozarteum Foundation in Salzburg, Austria.
