Product Description

Based on an Armenian Song by Komitas Vartabed (1869-1935). Poem by Smpad Shahaziz (1840-1897). Translation by Zabelle Boyajian (1872-1957). Transliteration by Maroush Paneyan Nigon.

Komitas Vartabed's plaintive melody Yeraz (The Dream) is arranged with four poignant verses by Shahaziz. It is set in E minor and can be sung in Armenian or English. Komitas, born Soghomon Soghomonian, was an esteemed musicologist and priest who collected hundreds of Armenian songs in his travels. He composed sacred and secular music, vocal and instrumental, in addition to conducting, singing, and lecturing internationally.

A pronunciation key and transliteration are provided, along with a rehearsal piano part.

Duration: Approx. 3:27
