Randall Malmstrom has brilliantly arranged extracts from Richard Wagner's Die Walküre Act II for 11-part Brass Ensemble and Timpani. Die Walküre is the second of Wagner's epic Ring Cycle operas based loosely on Germanic heroic legend, namely Norse legendary sagas and the Nibelungenlied. The opera was first performed in 1870 and features a large orchestra including a massive brass section.

The music is deep, somber, heroic, tragic and is a great platform for the brass section.

Malmstrom's arrangement of extracts from Act II is almost 7-minutes in length, is suitable for advanced performers and uses the instrumentation of 2 Trumpets in C, 4 Horns, 2 Tenor Trombones, Bass Trombone, Contrabass Trombone, Tuba and Timpani.
