**I. Dance of the Youngsters**: *Pentozalis*
A lively traditional tune from Crete, this dance captures the vibrant energy and youthful spirit of the island.
**II. Dance of the Elders**: *Matoklada*
This rebetiko carsilama tune by Markos Vamvakaris brings forth the wisdom and storytelling of the elder generations, creating a poignant contrast to the youthful exuberance.
**III. Dance of the Past**: *Dance*
A traditional tune from Heipiros, this piece reflects nostalgia and the rich cultural history of the region, inviting listeners to connect with their roots.
**IV. Dance of the Future**: *Pyrihios*
Incorporating elements from the traditional dances "Sera" and "Shereanit'sa" from Pontos, this dance symbolizes hope and the continuity of cultural expressions for future generations.
**Transcription Details**:
The suite has been transcribed for various instrumental combinations, including viola and piano, clarinet and piano, flute and piano, oboe and piano, alto saxophone and piano, tenor saxophone and piano, flugelhorn and piano, and a wind quintet.
**Dedication**:
The work is dedicated to Stathis Kiosoglou and was composed for his specific performance needs.
**Performance History**:
The suite premiered in 2011 at Pera Multipurpose Hall, Konstantinople, performed by Stathis Mavrommatis and Christina Panteli. Additionally, it has been performed by the "O Ihos os Ehei" wind quintet in Larisa, Greece, in 2014. Furthermore, Duo Tact, featuring Chryssoula Georgaki and Stelios Spaniolas, showcased "Hellenic Dances" at the Lefkada Philharmonic Society and the Athenaeum Concert Hall in Athens, Greece.
