Product Description

In the mid 1960s, Roy Castle had a series of variety shows on BBC Television and Arthur Wilkinson was his musical director. On one of the shows, the celebrity guest was ballet star Doreen Wells who asked if she could dance to music of the Beatles. It fell to Wilkinson to arrange some of the hit songs for use by a ballerina. He hit on the idea of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite as a model; it was so popular that further movements were added for an EP recording and the complete Beatlecracker Suite is the result. The EP was issued throughout the world and was to be followed by an album if it did well enough, but it appears there was none.

The movements are:
1. Miniature Overture (Help!)
2. March (When I'm 64)
3. Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy (Can't buy me love)
4. Russian Dance (Trepak) (Norwegian Wood) [not part of the original suite]
5. Arabian Dance (It's for you)
6. Chinese Dance (Ticket to ride)
7. Dance of the Reed Flutes (She loves you)
8. Waltz of the Flowers (From me to you)
9. Pas de Deux (All my loving)

A perfect chart for an alternative Christmas/Holiday event, or just a great opportunity to celebrate the enduring legacy of the Beatles.
