Product Description

Cantique de Jean Racine

This gorgeous piece is one of Fauré's most famous works, originally for choir and piano (or organ).
First published: 1865 (keyboard version, Schoen).
I have arranged it for recorder quartet [descant/treble/tenor/bass] or recorder orchestra and guitar.
Score and parts.

The text is a French translation, by the 17th century French dramatist Jean Racine,
of a medieval Latin hymn, Consors paterni luminis. When Gabriel Fauré set the translation to music,
he gave it the title Cantique de Jean Racine, rather than the title of the original hymn.
