Product Description

A rare revisit to Sousas medley march days, this march features Stephen Fosters Come Where My Love Lies Dreaming and Ethelbert Nevins Narcissus. This unpublished march could have been called Homage to Nevin and Foster, Homage to Pittsburgh, or The Belle of Pittsburgh.

It is one of Sousas more unusual works, but highly inventive. His combination of themes is well executed and builds throughout to a triumphant conclusion. A quite difficult one to arrange!

This Brass Quintet arrangement was made using The Presidents Own United States Marine Bands The Complete Marches of John Philip Sousa score as found at https://www.marineband.marines.mil/Audio-Resources/The-Complete-Marches-of-John-Philip-Sousa/. The Pride of Pittsburgh was composed in 1901, and the referenced edition was made Public Domain in 2018. The piece is catalogued as Volume 4, No. 60.
