Product Description

Eventide is a beautiful vocal piece composed in 1916, with lyrics written by Arthur's daughter, Gladys. It is suitable for a wide range of voices (including soprano, mezzo-soprano, tenor, and baritone) and can be a great alternative to traditional hymns like Abide with Me.

Often associated with evening and twilight, Eventide is a versatile piece that can be sung on various occasions where a reflective and contemplative atmosphere is desired. It is ideal for Christian worship services, funerals, memorials, candlelight vigils, recitals, or concerts where a reflective, serene, and tranquil atmosphere is desired.

James Arthur Ager (1867-1947) was a British composer, organist, pianist, and music educator, who worked across the English Midlands. Ager served as the organist and choirmaster at St. Andrew's Church in Birmingham, whilst teaching piano and composition. He owned his own publishing company, Stanley & Co, and had his works published by many other reputable publishers including Maynards, The Opus Music Co, and Mozart Allan.

Although not as well-known as some of his contemporaries, Ager's music, including a variety of songs, choral, piano, and organ works, is worth exploring for those interested in late 19th and early 20th-century British music.
