The Parting Glass" is an Irish traditional song, often sung at the end of a gathering of friends. The "parting glass", or "stirrup cup", was the final hospitality offered to a departing guest. Once they had mounted, they were presented one final drink to fortify them for their long travels.

The Parting Glass should be played with emotion.
The musicians need to perform the composition with expression and rubato tempos. Tastefully stretching, slowing, and hurrying the tempo imparting flexibility and emotion to the performance. Bass drum should be more of feel than a sound.
