Recently made popular by the Outlander series, Skye Boat Song is one of the most well-known Scottish tunes, with a fascinating history. Christy-Lyns arrangement of this song brings a feeling of drama without being overly difficult, and there is a lot of space for expression and dynamics. For the intermediate harp player who loves Scotland, this is a piece that gives great payoff for minimal effort!

Difficulty Level and Skills Required: Early-intermediate: The right hand melody has some syncopation but it is fairly straight forward in terms of fingering. The left hand uses a variety of chord shapes but with long notes so theres plenty of time for placing. There are a number of rolled chords.

Type of Harp: Lever harps or pedal harp. The small harp version works for 26 string harps or larger, and the big harp version works for 33 string harps or larger.

Range: Small harp version Lowest note is D below middle C. Highest note is F two and a half octaves above middle C. Big harp version Lowest note is D, almost 2 octaves below middle C. Highest note is F, 1 and a half octaves above middle C.

Levers/Pedals: It is in the key of D major, with C sharps and F sharps. There are no lever changes during the piece.
